Rabbi Chaim Zanvl Abramowitz (1902–1995), famously known as the Ribnitzer Rebbe, was a legendary Hasidic leader and mystic whose life was defined by extraordinary devotion and spiritual endurance. Having spent decades in the Soviet Union maintaining a life of holiness under the most challenging conditions, he eventually emigrated to the United States, where he became a source of inspiration and guidance for thousands. He was renowned for his profound attachment to prayer, his legendary fasts, and his frequent immersions in ritual baths (mikvaot) even in the most freezing environments. Beyond his asceticism, he was deeply loved for his boundless compassion and the countless blessings and acts of kindness he offered to people from all walks of life. His presence in Monsey, New York, turned the community into a destination for those seeking spiritual uplift and personal salvation, leaving a legacy of pure faith and selfless service to others.
